iPhone Duo vs Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold: Which Foldable Should You Buy?

By Alex Turner • Updated 10 October 2026

iPhone Duo vs Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold — SmartphonesNetwork cover

Apple’s first foldable costs £1,999. Google’s Pixel 11 Pro Fold, on sale in the UK since 19 August, starts at £1,799. They are built on different ideas: the Duo has a wider, shorter inner screen and iOS, while the Pixel has a near-square inner screen, a 5x telephoto and seven years of promised updates.

Short answer: If you’re on an iPhone, the iPhone Duo is the only foldable that keeps you in iOS, and it is worth waiting for full reviews. If you’re open to Android, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is £200 cheaper, 15g lighter and has a 5x zoom lens, but reviewers say it feels like a last-generation foldable, with a smaller battery than last year’s and a crease you can still see. Compare it with the alternatives in our best foldable phones guide before you buy.

Design and weight: Pixel is lighter, but neither is light

The Duo weighs 254g against the Pixel’s 239g, so the Apple is about 6% heavier. Folded, the Duo is 11.3mm thick against 10.1mm; open, they are 5.2mm and 5.0mm. Neither is among the lightest foldables on sale: the Honor Magic V6 weighs 219g in white and Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 is 201g. Tech Advisor called the Pixel still thicker than the competition, and Droid Life found it bulky and tiring to carry.

The bigger difference is shape. Apple has gone for a wider, shorter inner screen, about 1.4:1, which suits video and games. The Pixel’s inner screen is almost square. Droid Life and Android Authority both said that square shape suits video and many apps poorly, with black bars or awkward layouts.

Durability: both IP68, and the Pixel’s crease is still visible

Both are rated IP68 for water and dust. Apple adds Ceramic Shield on the front and back and a titanium frame and hinge cover. Google uses ceramic glass on the cover screen and a glass-fibre composite rear layer, and says the phone is three times as durable as last year’s model; that is Google’s claim, not a test result.

Neither screen is crease-free. Tech Advisor said the Pixel’s crease is improved but still noticeable and a clear step behind its rivals; Android Authority called it clearly visible, especially off-centre and in dark mode; Droid Life found it reduced and not distracting. Apple says its nano-texture finish minimises creasing, and we have no independent verdict on the Duo yet. We have not handled either phone.

Screens: Pixel is bigger on paper

The Pixel’s inner screen is 8in against the Duo’s 7.6in, and its cover screen is 6.5in against 5.4in. Google quotes up to 3,600 nits of peak brightness against Apple’s 3,000, but peak figures are measured differently by each brand, so don’t read too much into the gap. The cover screen is the bigger practical difference: the Pixel’s behaves like a normal phone when folded, while the Duo’s 5.4in is a noticeably smaller canvas. Droid Life called the Pixel’s inner display a showstopper.

Cameras: Pixel has the zoom, Apple lists the better video

The Pixel has a 48MP main camera, a 10.5MP ultrawide and a 10.8MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom. The Duo has two 48MP cameras and no telephoto at all, reaching 2x by cropping its main sensor.

Reviewers were not wowed by the Pixel’s. Android Authority found the main camera reliable but sometimes flat, with weaker portrait, low-light and ultrawide shots. Droid Life said the camera trails the regular Pixel 11 Pro and called the telephoto the weakest of the three. Tech Advisor said the main sensor is better in low light, but that the telephoto can’t be used in Portrait mode. On video, Apple lists 4K at 120fps for the Duo, while PhoneArena lists 4K at 60fps for the Pixel. We have no independent camera tests of the Duo yet, so we can’t say which takes better photos.

Battery and charging: no clear winner yet

The Pixel’s 4,806mAh battery is smaller than last year’s 5,015mAh, according to Droid Life. Tech Advisor recorded 13 hours 12 minutes in its PCMark battery test and said most rivals last longer. Android Authority said it gets to bedtime but rivals leave more margin on a busy day, and that a full charge takes about 80 minutes. Droid Life called its battery results mixed. Google quotes about 50% in 30 minutes with a 30W charger, which is sold separately.

Apple doesn’t publish the capacity of the Duo’s two cells, and its claims (up to 31 hours of video on the inner screen, 44 on the outer) are its own pre-production figures. There are no independent Duo battery tests yet. Apple’s box has a USB-C cable but no charger, and its 20-minute 50% claim needs a 60W-capable adapter.

Performance: untested on the Duo

Android Authority said the Tensor G6’s graphics performance is weak, with last year’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold ahead in one 3DMark stress test, and Tech Advisor called it not great for gaming. The Duo’s Apple A20 Pro hasn’t been benchmarked independently yet. PhoneArena expects it to be faster, but that is an expectation, not a test result.

Software and ecosystem: your current phone decides

The Pixel runs Android 17, and Google promises seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates. Droid Life praised its split-screen and taskbar but noted that Samsung’s foldables can run three apps at once. Android Authority also hit software quirks, such as Gmail defaulting to a phone layout until a restart.

The Duo runs iOS 27, with a Split View that Tom’s Guide reports runs two apps side by side. It is new, though, and Apple Pencil support is only promised for later this year. Apple doesn’t publish an update number. If your life runs on iMessage, AirPods and an Apple Watch, that settles it; if it runs on Gmail and Google Photos, the same logic points to the Pixel.

Price and value

The Pixel starts at £1,799 for 256GB, £200 below the Duo. Tech Advisor lists £1,919 for the 512GB model and £2,149 for 1TB, against Apple’s £2,199 and £2,599, so the gap grows to £280 and £450. Google lists the base model at £49.97 a month over 36 months, and Apple lists 0% APR over 30 months from £66.63 a month. Finance is credit and subject to status, so read the terms first.

Whichever you choose, price the repair cover first. Apple hasn’t published AppleCare+ pricing for the Duo on its UK store page, and inner-screen repair costs on any foldable can be steep.

The verdict

On price and zoom, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is the one you can buy today, and it is cheaper at every storage size. But the reviews we’ve read are lukewarm. Tech Advisor described it as feeling last-gen and hard to recommend at the price unless you are a dedicated Pixel fan; Android Authority recommended the Pixel 11 Pro XL instead unless you need the big inner screen; Droid Life found it good but starting to feel dated. The iPhone Duo has no full reviews yet, only hands-on impressions.

So, if you’re on an iPhone and want a foldable, the Duo is the one to wait for. If you’re on Android, the Pixel only makes sense if you want Pixel software and the 5x zoom; otherwise compare it with the lighter Honor Magic V6 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 in our best foldable phones guide.
