The Nothing Phone (2a) is the closest thing Android has to the iPhone’s design-first philosophy — which makes this £699 vs £319 comparison more interesting than the price gap suggests.

Display & Design
The Phone (2a)’s 6.7-inch flexible AMOLED at 120Hz is bigger and smoother than the iPhone’s 6.1-inch 60Hz-class Retina panel, though Apple’s display wins on peak HDR quality. Design is taste: the iPhone’s premium minimalism at 171g versus Nothing’s transparent Glyph look at 190g. Neither feels cheap.
Performance & Cameras
The A16 Bionic is far ahead of the Dimensity 7200 Pro — this is the single biggest gap between these phones and it compounds over years of updates. Camera-wise the iPhone’s 48MP sensor-shift system is more consistent and much stronger for video; the (2a)’s dual 50MP setup is very good for the money, particularly the ultrawide.
Battery, Value & Verdict
Nothing wins the battery spec sheet outright: 5000mAh vs 3349mAh and 45W charging vs 20W — the (2a) charges from empty in well under an hour. iOS efficiency narrows the endurance gap but doesn’t close it. The iPhone’s counterweights are MagSafe, longer software support, and resale value the (2a) can’t match.
