Google Pixel 10 vs Samsung Galaxy S26: The Android Flagship Question

By Alex Turner • Updated 3 October 2026

Both run Android 16. Both promise seven years of updates. Both have 6.3in 120Hz displays. On paper these are the same phone — which makes the differences that do exist unusually decisive.

Short answer: Buy the Pixel 10 for the cameras and the battery — it has a 5x telephoto against Samsung’s 3x, a much larger battery, and costs £80 less. Buy the Galaxy S26 if weight and the display matter most: it is 37g lighter, considerably thinner, and significantly brighter.

Zoom: Google by a clear margin

The Pixel reaches 5x optically; the S26 stops at 3x. Both have roughly 10MP telephoto sensors, so this is purely about reach, and reach is the thing you cannot recover in software.

Samsung’s camera hardware is unchanged for a fourth consecutive generation. The processing has improved, but you are not buying new sensors — and you are paying £80 more for less optical reach.

Hardware: Samsung by a clear margin

At 167g and 7.2mm the S26 is 37g lighter and noticeably thinner than the 204g, 8.6mm Pixel. Picked up side by side the difference is immediate and it is the main reason people choose the Samsung.

That Samsung achieves it while keeping IP68 and a 4,300mAh battery is a genuine engineering achievement. It just comes at the cost of 670mAh against the Pixel.

The chip question

Exynos 2600 ends years of UK Samsung buyers getting the weaker silicon, and in raw terms it outruns Tensor G5.

Tensor is built for on-device AI rather than benchmarks, and Gemini Nano runs locally on the Pixel. If you use those features heavily the Pixel is the better tool; if you mostly want speed, Samsung is ahead.

The storage asterisk

The £80 gap narrows once storage is matched. The Pixel’s £799 buys 128GB; the S26’s £879 buys 256GB. A 256GB Pixel 10 is £899, which makes it the more expensive phone like for like.

Decide how much storage you actually need before treating the Pixel as the cheaper option.

The verdict

At matched storage the S26 is slightly cheaper and much nicer to hold; the Pixel is the better camera and lasts longer. Both will receive updates until 2033.

Our lean is the Pixel 10 for anyone who takes photographs seriously, and the Galaxy S26 for anyone who values a phone that disappears into a pocket. There is no wrong answer here — which is not something we can often say.
